Whoops! Diaz Falsely Accused Of Domestic Violence

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Anyone watching “The Outsider” on HBO will appreciate this story.

Longtime UFC superstar Nate Diaz woke up on Wednesday to learn that he had reportedly been arrested for domestic violence following a knock-down, drag-out brawl with police in South Florida.

But instead of his “Sunshine State” holding cell, Diaz was reading the news from his bed in Stockton, Calif., because some dope from the Miami Herald couldn’t tell the difference between Diaz and regional fighter, Michael Albert Nates.

Here’s a screen shot of Nates from Tapology:

I didn’t realize Big Time Rush had a fifth member.

“This whole thing is utterly irresponsible, and we are exploring legal action,” Diaz’s publicist, Zach Rosenfield, told MMA Junkie. “Nate has been in Stockton since the Tuesday after the Super Bowl and there is no possible way that what is being reported is relatable to him.”

Miami Herald with the reverse lights:

“In an initial version of this story, the Miami Herald incorrectly reported that mixed martial arts superstar Nate Diaz had been arrested in a domestic-violence case. The Herald apologizes for the error.”

Diaz has not competed since his technical knockout loss to Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 last November in New York.
