Jon Jones responds to Jan Blachowicz call out: ‘I’m ready to go’

Light heavyweight champion Jon Jones watched Jan Blachowicz scored a first-round knockout over Corey Anderson in Saturday’s UFC on ESPN+ 25 main event from the front row at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. With the win, Blachowicz believes he should be next in line for a title shot and called out Jones following the fight.

During the event’s Post Show on ESPN+, Jones responded to Blachowicz’ call out and praised the Polish fighter’s skills.

“He looked great. He looked fantastic, crisp boxing, great takedown defense. He just looked really good,” Jones said. “I was happy to see Corey Anderson eat his words. He’s been talking so much trash, and then to go out there and perform the way he did.”

Jones believes Blachowicz is a worthy opponent to challenge for his belt and expects the fight promotion to line up the bout.

“Jan has great knockout power. He’s very technical. He’s fundamentals are very sharp, and yeah, I think he’s going to make a great opponent,” he said.

“I can totally see the UFC matching us up with each other. What better way to make a claim for the title than to get a knockout like that, so I’ve got a feeling the UFC is going to be giving me a call real soon.”

Blachowicz asked Jones to give him a date and place for the showdown but Jones will leave that up to the UFC. Although, Jones said that he’s healthy and ready to go.

“I’m excited. Whoever I fight, I’m excited,” said Jones. “I’m going to wait and see what the UFC comes up with but I’m ready to go. I’m completely healed from my last fight. No black eyes and everything. My face, body, mind, heart are all ready to go, so let’s do this.”
