Has the Nick Diaz Army met its match?

Any time I write anything remotely critical of former UFC interim welterweight champion, Colby Covington, an army of trolls descends upon my Twitter account to remind me that I’m a worthless piece of trash who should not be allowed to procreate.

They’re not wrong, but what does that have to do with Covington?

The point being, I’m a complete nobody and the Troll Army has me on its hit list, so I can only imagine what poor Marc Goddard has been forced to endure after stopping the UFC 245 main event last December, resulting in a championship win for Kamaru Usman.

MMA Fighting extracts the juice from the LISTEN! podcast:

Goddard said Covington’s response to his performance in the UFC 245 title fight against champ Kamaru Usman was “totally and utterly inappropriate, abusive,” and “threatening.” As a result, he said, he received death threats and accusations he had a financial interest in the bout. But he resisted the impulse to respond, reasoning the damage to his career as an official would be greater than the satisfaction of defending himself.

Read Covington’s post-fight comments on Goddard here.

“Chaos” is no stranger to death threats, getting the “I hope ISIS bombs your family” routine after spoiling one of the recent Star Wars movies. Similarly, Francis Ngannou had to defend his coach, Dewey Cooper, after UFC fans promised to kill him.

Probably the same fans who lost money on this fight.

Covington remains unbooked in the wake of his UFC 245 loss to Usman and a timeline for his return depends on how quickly “Chaos” recovers from his injuries. Perhaps a “Nigerian Nightmare” rematch this summer in “Sin City?”
