Ex-UFC flyweight title challenger Wilson Reis signs with ARES FC

Wilson Reis has found a new home following his release from the UFC.

Reis (23-10 MMA), a former UFC flyweight title challenger, has signed with Afro-French MMA organization ARES FC, the promotion announced Tuesday.

Reis spent six years with the UFC, compiling a record of 7-6. He holds wins over the likes of Scott Jorgensen, Dustin Ortiz, and Ben Nguyen. After winning six of his first eight UFC fights, Reis was awarded a title shot against then 125-pound champ Demetrious Johnson. He was submitted in the third round of their April 2017 title fight.

Reis would then go on to lose three of his next four, including a TKO loss to current UFC bantamweight champ Henry Cejudo, leading to his UFC release in May.

A date has yet to be set for the Brazilian flyweight’s ARES FC debut.
