McGregor Gifts Fury Bottle Of Whiskey Before Wilder Rematch

The upcoming heavyweight title rematch between WBC champion Deontay Wilder (42-0-1, 41 KO) and Tyson Fury (29-0-1, 20 KOs) tomorrow evening (Sat., Feb. 22, 2020) live on ESPN+ PPV from inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, is catching a lot of attention and for good reason.

Taking notice of this weekend’s much-anticipated rematch between Wilder and Fury is none other than former UFC champion Conor McGregor. The outspoken Irishman first weighed in on the heated staredown between Wilder and Fury earlier this week, which prompted the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) to prohibit a final face-off during ceremonial weigh ins.

“Guys, please relax here,” wrote McGregor via Twitter. “Vegas commission, you are one of the best commissions, bar none, for impeccably handling events of unpredictability. Place men between the men. Security on stage. Let them get one last look at each other. The last look before it’s really f—king on.”

In addition to his plea to NSAC, McGregor went out of his way to send a bottle of his famous Proper No. Twelve Irish whiskey to Fury for some post-fight celebration. McGregor and Fury have already been linked to a future training session for “Gypsy King’s” potential MMA crossover, but this was a nice sign of respect from “Notorious” as Fury gears up for the biggest fight of his boxing career.

“Thank you very much, Conor. I appreciate it,” said Fury. “I’m going to get smashed out me f—king face after the fight. If you’re in Vegas let’s do it together.”

McGregor will be watching alongside the masses this weekend as Fury tries to punch his way past Wilder’s legendary power and cement himself as the best heavyweight fighter in boxing today.

MMAmania.com will deliver LIVE coverage of the Wilder-Fury main event this weekend, which caps off a four-fight ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) event that starts at 9 p.m. ET.
