Welterweight prospect Isaac Moreno looks to remain unbeaten at Fury FC 42

Since first stepping into the amateur cage in November, 2018, welterweight Isaac Moreno has been just about as good as anyone could be.

In four bouts, Moreno has picked up wins in all of them, finishing all four of his opponents in the process.

“I’ve been getting fights and doing the best I can do,” Moreno told MMAWeekly.com. “I’ve been doing very well, and I think I’m making a name for myself.

“I think with every fight I’m getting better and better out there. I do what I want to do in the fight. If I want to exchange, we’ll exchange; if they want to go the ground, I’m able to get back up; but if I want to take it to the ground, I’m able to do that.”

Moreno is not only happy with his performances in his fights, but with how he’s been able to develop his game over the past year.

“It’s night and day from my first fight until my past fight,” said Moreno. “I’m more comfortable in the cage. I’ve been in martial arts my whole life, but being in the cage is a whole other animal. It’s a night and day difference.”

On Sunday in Houston, Texas, Moreno (4-0) will look to remain undefeated when he takes on Juan Zamudio (2-2) in a preliminary amateur 170-pound championship bout at Fury FC 42.

“He’s a striker, and I’m a striker, so it should be a good match-up,” Moreno said of facing Zamudio. “I think my key to victory here is to make it to my distance and finish the fight.”

With the success he’s had as an amateur it looks like 2020 could be the year Moreno makes the move up to the pro ranks.

“We haven’t made a decision yet to when I’m going to turn pro, but it’s coming up pretty soon,” said Moreno. “When the opportunity presents itself and my coaches feel I’m ready for the next level that’s what we’ll do, but I feel like it’s coming up quick.”
