Roman Faraldo wants to snatch dreams and inflict damage at Titan FC 59

Following several years on the amateur circuit, welterweight Roman Faraldo made the move to the pro ranks last year and was able to make it a successful transition.

In two bouts in 2019, Faraldo was able to pick up wins in both, finishing each bout before they could reach the third round.

“It was a big moment for me,” Faraldo told MMAWeekly.com. “I had been consistently training for the past seven years, so this has been a big dream of mine to really actually take the next step. (My debut fight versus Dilano Taylor) ended up turning out exactly how I wanted, a second round TKO.

“(My second fight was) against a guy, Ramon Butts, who didn’t have the record that really pleased me, but I went out there and got a first round TKO. I’m moving forward I’m just keeping the mindset of why I’m doing this; regardless if the guy is up to my caliber or not, I’m still going to go out there and put on a show and put on a performance.”

This past year Faraldo has made an effort to expand his training, including working with Duke Roufus and his Roufusport team, which has paid off in many ways.

“I feel like my striking is there and I can strike with anybody in the world,” said Faraldo. “It also showed me what I need to work on with the ground in terms of grappling. Just different forms of becoming a more well-rounded mixed martial artist in general, so it was a very good experience for me.

“I’ve definitely evolved as a mixed martial artist and have figured out ways to implement my game plan and be more of myself.”

On Friday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Faraldo (2-0) will look to keep his winning ways going when he faces Kendly St. Louis (3-2) in a main card 170-pound bout at Titan FC 59.

“I’m a warrior in there,” Faraldo said. “I bring the fight to you. I’m in there to hurt you, to take your confidence, take your dreams – I don’t give anything – I take every from you. I want to go in there and cause damage, inflict damage, and basically break the will of my opponent.”

While Faraldo does have overall goals he’d like to achieve in 2020, he intends to take his time and approach each opportunity as it comes and not overlook anything.

“I definitely have a game plan of what I want to do; I want to fight at least four or five times this year,” said Faraldo. “But just like any fight you have to be able to adapt.

“One fight might last a minute, one fight might last all three rounds, so you have to be able to adapt and roll with the punches. I definitely have a roadmap, but sometimes you’ve got to take a back alley.”
