The UFC 196 pay-per-view (PPV) event featured a pretty wild night of fights, including the bantamweight co-main event between Miesha Tate and Holly Holm. “Cupcake” strangled “The Preacher’s Daughter” en route to a fifth-round submission victory in a brilliant performance that was sadly forgotten after what followed in the five-round headliner.

After former lightweight champion, Rafael dos Anjos, was forced to withdraw from the March 5 fight card, held four years ago in Las Vegas, Nevada, Nate Diaz stepped in on super-short notice to battle Conor McGregor at 170 pounds.

The rest, as they say, is history.

McGregor (22-4) would get his revenge — kinda/sorta — in their UFC 202 rematch, taking home a majority decision win before moving on to whoop Eddie Alvarez at UFC 206. The reward for that victory was a Floyd Mayweather boxing match and the millions that came with it.

As for Diaz (20-12), he’s competed just twice since he last tangled with his “Notorious” rival, splitting a pair of welterweight fights against Anthony Pettis (W) and Jorge Masvidal (L). Hopefully we can get McGregor vs. Diaz 3 before both fighters call it a career.
