Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero’s peers all over the board on lackluster UFC 248 main event
The UFC 248 main event between middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and challenger Yoel Romero was perplexing, if nothing else.
Highly criticized for the lack of engagement in the fight – especially by UFC president Dana White – there were still many different takes on how the bout played out by the athletes’ peers.
Some fighters felt it was a highly technical chess match, while others basically called it a snoozefest due to lack of activity.
Check out what other UFC fighters had to say about the UFC 248 middleweight championship main event.

That must’ve been the 10-4 round Izzy was talking about

This was a scary fight for Izzy I don’t think he fights like this again Yoels just so scary with his slowness to explosiveness

Romero was smart to wait for the counter striker Adesanya early in the fight. He was trying to get him to come forward and land a big shot. Almost worked. This was a tactical fight between two smart & disciplined fighters. #UFC248

Whitaker wanted to make it an exciting fight and came forward looking for the KO. Didn’t work out well for him. Most people don’t know shit about fighting. In most people’s eyes, all brawls are good fights. It’s the elite fighter that uses intelligence, tactics and skill.

So after the ladies that title fight came across as light sparrring. But sometimes that’s how the fight game goes. #ufc248

Izzy won that fight. He put Joanna’s knot on Romero’s leg. Business as usual. Great work @stylebender

I love Izzy, but in my honest opinion, Romero won that due to extreme inactivity on both parties but Romero doing slightly more. #UFC248

Not even Adesanya believe he won…I had Romero all the way!
— Rafael dos Anjos (@RdosAnjosMMA) March 8, 2020
I had it 4-1 for @YoelRomeroMMA 🤷♂️

it’s tough when you have two of the best fighters in the world in the cage with SO much at stake! Either one has the ability to end the fight instantly at anytime! Congrats on the W my friend! @stylebender #UFC248

1. Izzy fought a low risk fight because Romero is just the stand in guy. Save himself for Costa.
2. Romero hit Izzy with a heavy and explosive left hand and fear grabs Izzy for the rest of the fight.
3. Romero being the challenger needs to push the action.
All valid answers.
