Sabah Homasi ‘ready to go’ against Paul Daley at Bellator 241

Following a three-fight losing streak, welterweight Sabah Homasi was able to rebound with back to back wins, including a victory over Micah Terrill at Bellator 225.

The only issue that Homasi has had of late was a medical issue which caused the cancellation of what was to be his second Bellator fight and five months off.

“Last year went really good,” Homasi told MMAWeekly.com. The only thing I had was a little setback with that infection I had before the first time I was scheduled to fight Paul (Daley). I’ve gotten over that and now I’m ready to go.

It was hard. It was a big setback for me. I was kind of crushed at first because I wasn’t sure if I’d get to fight Paul Daley. It just sucked. I knew it would get better. I knew it was temporary. And here I am.”

Even with time missed, Homasi feels like he made progress with his game in 2019, especially with how he and his team break down his training.

“I get a lot of feedback from my coaches,” said Homasi. “We record our training and sparring, so I get a lot of positive feedback. I know I’m getting better, sharper, and wiser. As I’m getting older too my fight IQ is going up. Everything is coming together with perfect timing.”

On Friday in Uncasville, Connecticut, Homasi (13-8) will get his long awaited bout with Daley (42-17-2) when the two clash in a 170-pound main card bout at Bellator 241.

“I’ve just got to go in there and do me,” Homasi said. “I’m a well-rounded fighter. I have knockout power, and so does (Daley), but I can wrestle and grapple. I think just me mixing it up, doing everything, (could be a key to this fight).”

When it comes to 2020, Homasi has a good idea of what he wants to achieve, and will continue to set goals as he works his way through the year.

“One of my goals is being in the Top 10 and it starts right here,” said Homasi. “That’s going to be the first goal that I accomplish. After that I’ll set the next one. It’s one at a time. I like take it one fight at a time; brick by brick.”
