Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, has not been seen since his first-round technical knockout win over Donald Cerrone in their welterweight headliner at UFC 246 back in January.

But don’t worry, “Notorious” is coming back “soon.”

The power-punching Irishman has been linked to a potential 155-pound showdown opposite Justin Gaethje in July; however, promotion president, Dana White, prefers to first see how things play out between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson at UFC 249 in April.

McGregor (22-4) may be in line for the next lightweight title shot.

“I will be in the Octagon again soon and fully expect to box again,” McGregor told Bleacher Report. “You will need to stay tuned, but trust me – the fans will enjoy. Giving them what they want and entertaining them is important to me.”

Nurmagomedov already beat McGregor at UFC 229 in late 2018.

“Notorious” also made a name for himself in the boxing world by holding his own against retired pugilist, Floyd Mayweather Jr., in their “Sin City” showdown back in summer 2017, though debate continues on how much “Money” carried the match.

As eager as McGregor, 31, is to get back inside the cage, most of the sporting world is stuck in a holding patter after the coronavirus outbreak. In fact, UFC was forced to postpone its next three shows, so there’s no telling when “Mystic Mac” might be making his Octagon return.
