Sabina Mazo happy to keep showing evolution in her game, wants on UFC San Diego card

LAS VEGAS – Sabina Mazo continues to show new wrinkles in her game as she climbs up the flyweight ranks.

Former LFA 125-pound champ Mazo (8-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) suffered her first pro loss in her UFC debut, but was able to rebound with back-to-back wins over Shana Dobson and, most recently, J.J. Aldrich at UFC 246.

“I think it’s been a great year of experience since my first UFC fight – the loss I had – and the two victories,” Mazo said at a Dominance MMA media day in Las Vegas earlier this month. “I feel it changed my game. I kind of see the evolution I had since the first fight, and every time I’m more sure that I want to make memorable fights. More than just victories, I just want to show my game and that people remember my name.”

Training out of Kings MMA in California, Mazo hopes to land on the upcoming UFC on ESPN+ 33 card in San Diego.

“Well, (I want to fight) as soon as possible to be honest,” Mazo said. “I’ve been training, so I was looking actually for the card on May 16 in San Diego. So if I can get on that one, or soon, I think I’ll get it.”
