UFC parts ways with welterweight Chance Rencountre, lightweight Kyle Prepolec

The UFC roster has gotten a little bit smaller.

In recent days, the promotion has parted ways with welterweight Chance Rencountre and lightweight Kyle Prepolec.

A person with knowledge of the roster move confirmed Rencountre’s departure to MMA Junkie.

Rencountre (14-4 MMA, 2-2 UFC) split four UFC appearances dating back to his promotional debut in June 2018. Taking a fight on short notice against Belal Muhammad, Rencountre was able to last 15 minutes, but lost a unanimous decision.

In his sophomore UFC appearance, Rencountre earned his first promotional win against Kyle Stewart. Rencountre submitted Stewart by first-round rear-naked choke in January 2019. The success continued in his third UFC fight, when Rencountre upset heavy favorite Ismail Naurdiev at UFC 239 in July 2019.

In Rencountre’s most recent fight at UFC 244 this past November, he was knocked out by Lyman Good. That fight landed him on the chopping block.

As for Prepolec, the Canadian lightweight confirmed his release on Twitter on Friday. The 30-year-old lost decisions to Nordine Taleb and Austin Hubbard before getting his pink slip.

“Was fun while it lasted once everything is done and settled I’ll get the ball rolling and get back in there,” Prepolec posted. “Thank you for the opportunity @ufc @UFC_CA. I’ll prove myself worthy again. Time to get back to work. Time to be better then ever before.”
