The outbreak of coronavirus is so bad that even the meetings to talk about coronavirus are getting canceled.

That’s what happened with Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) this week, as the governing body was expected to convene on Wednesday to talk about, among other things, its recent ban on live sporting events.

Like mixed martial arts (MMA).

“Please be advised that due to the ongoing concern and consideration of the health and safety of the public in regard to the COVID-19 virus, the Regular Monthly Meeting of the Nevada Athletic Commission scheduled for Wednesday March 25, 2020 at 9:00 AM has been cancelled,” secretary Frankie Mason wrote. “The Commission will determine at a later date when the next regularly scheduled meeting will be held.”

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was hoping to move its events to the APEX facility in Las Vegas, where fights could be aired behind closed doors. Unfortunately for Dana White and Co., the progression of the outbreak put an end to that endeavor.

The good news for fight fans is that UFC is expected to stage its Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson title bout this April in a city and venue to be named. As for the rest of its postponed events, those will be rescheduled for later this year.
