Former UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley, thought that losing his UFC London main event, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, freed him from fighting top 170-pound contender, Leon Edwards, which may explain why “The Chosen One” was recently shopping around for a new opponent.

Not so fast.

UFC President Dana White insists that all postponed fights, including Woodley-Edwards, will be rescheduled for a later date, once the global health crisis abates or is at least brought down to a more manageable level.

“All these fights are being rescheduled,” White told Kevin Iole (transcribed by MMA Junkie). “Once we get the Khabib fight on, we’re rolling, man. We’re back in business, and we’re rolling. And like I told you earlier, everybody is going to fight because they want to, not because they have to.”

White is currently finalizing details for the UFC 249 pay-per-view (PPV) event, headlined by the lightweight showdown between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson. With the state of New York on lockdown, White is expected to announce a new location in the coming days.

As for the three events that preceded it, all of which have been postponed until further notice, those bouts will likely be transferred to upcoming fight cards later this year, or the promotion will use some of its open weekends to schedule new events.

Time will tell.
