Video: Watch the only two up-kick finishes in UFC history

Throughout the years, there have been many wild finishes in the UFC.

Fans have seen spinning wheel kicks, crane kicks and many other variations of fight-ending blows using the legs. But interestingly enough, the up-kick from the bottom hasn’t been as effective as many other kicks, and for good reason.

It’s tough to generate power while laying on your back, and there’s little mobility to place a kick on the right spot to cause damage.

Yet, two fighters in the UFC’s welterweight division have been able to pick up wins using up-kicks.

Most recently, Niko Price knocked out James Vick in October at UFC Tampa to earn his sixth UFC win. The kick earned Price a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus. Price’s up-kick is the most effective version of the move we’ve seen in the UFC.

Maybe not as powerful, but still impressive, Jon Fitch also utilized the uncommon kick to put away an opponent back in 2006. Fitch stopped former title challenger Thiago Alves after landing an up-kick and hurting the Brazilian enough to reverse the position and finish the fight from mount.

In the video above, relive the only two moments an up-kick has led to a finish in the UFC.
