‘Underappreciated’ Rousey: ‘F*ck These Fans’

God may not be the only one who hates her after this latest interview.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey, walked away from mixed martial arts (MMA) after consecutive knockout losses to Holly Holm (UFC 193) and Amanda Nunes (UFC 207).

What followed was a successful transition to the world of pro wrestling, a lifelong dream for “Rowdy,” who borrowed her iconic nickname (with permission) from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) hall-of-famer Roddy Piper.

But after a year of being one of the top stars in sports entertainment, Rousey, 33, once again packed her bags and went home. Partly because the travel schedule made family life difficult, but mostly because she was underappreciated by the WWE fanbase.

“So it’s just like … what am I doing it for if I’m not being able to spend my time and energy on my family, but instead spending my time and my energy on a bunch of fucking ungrateful fans that don’t even appreciate me?” Rousey told the Wild Ride! with Steve-O podcast (transcribed by Pro Wrestling Sheet).

Rousey may be attempting to play “heel” to keep some of her “heat” in pro wrestling, but these types of remarks would also be in line with some of her other comments. “Rowdy” has been hot-and-cold when it comes to her relationship with fans and she downright loathes the combat sports media.

“I love performing. I love the girls. I love being out there,” Rousey continued. “But, at the end of the day, I was just like, ‘Fuck these fans, dude.’ My family loves me and they appreciate me and I want all my energy to go into them. So that was my decision at the end of the day. It’s like, ‘Hey girls. Love what you’re doing. I’m gonna try and take all my momentum and push you guys as far as I can … fly little birds, fly! I’m going fucking home!’ And that was basically it.”

Hopefully she checked under the bed once she got there.
