VanZant: Naked Instagram Pics ‘Not A Social Media Stunt’

UFC strawweight sensation Paige VanZant insists her latest round of naked Instagram photos, also featuring husband (and MMA fighter) Austin Vanderford, were not posted as some sort of social media stunt and were not manufactured to get attention.

Since the entire point of Instagram is to get attention, I’m not sure why else she would post them. After all, without attention it’s impossible to make more money by posting on social media than it is by fighting inside the UFC Octagon (her words, not mine).

“It’s not really a social media stunt – it’s not to get attention,” VanZant told MMA Fighting. “I just think I want to spread the idea, we’ve been married for over a year and a half, and just to love your significant other, and have fun with them, and [show] how important it is to just make the most of the relationships that you have. We’re really just having a really good time and trying to spread love. We’re married, so I’m not embarrassed, I’m not shy about the way we live our life at all.”

VanZant (8-4) has not competed since scoring a submission victory over Rachael Ostovich at UFC Brooklyn roughly one year back and has struggled to stay consistent after her “stupid arm” failed to heal from an injury suffered in 2018.

Her upcoming fight will be the last on her current contract and “12 Gauge” is planning to test the open market before committing to another UFC run. At age 26, VanZant is fortunate to have a sizable chunk of her combat sports career still ahead of her.
