Salter had been submitted by future Middleweight champion Rafael Lovato Jr. at the moment where he seemed ready to challenge for the belt himself, but bounced back by choking out Chidi Njokuani in this exact same venue. To get back to the top, though, he’d also need to go through Van Steenis. “The Spaniard” had won six in a row leading to this show, including a technical knockout of “Seabass” Mike Shipman at “Bellator London” that summer.
