Mac Attacks Rankings Panel For Poirier Placement

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, is ranked No. 3 at 155 pounds, which could be viewed as charitable considering “Notorious” is just 1-1 in the division with his only win coming over the since-departed Eddie Alvarez back in late 2016.

Regardless, McGregor slammed the rankings panel for its “weird little game” and took exception to his spot behind Dustin Poirier (No. 2). The power-punching Irishman scratched “The Diamond” when they competed at featherweight roughly six years back.

“How is the pea ahead of me in rankings? I sparked him in 90 seconds,” McGregor wrote in a recently deleted tweet. “Went further against most recent foe, plus took a round. After two year layoff partying and or in jail/court. What a weird little game you guys play. I’ll bide my time for now but watch this space. All bums.”

McGregor often refers to Poirier as “Pea Head.”

“Because I’ve been fighting real contenders and you’ve been hand-picking opponents,” Poirier fired back.

Both fighters were taken out by reigning UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, but McGregor seems to want credit for lasting longer than Poirier, despite getting finished in equally violent fashion at UFC 229.

There’s been some talk over the last few years about a McGregor-Poirier rematch at 155 pounds, mostly from “The Diamond,” but considering how well “Notorious” has fared at welterweight, it’s hard to say where he ends up later this year.

Hopefully here.
