Bellator 229: “Koreshkov vs. Larkin” took place Oct. 4, 2019, at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California. As you may have surmised from the title, the main event featured Welterweight standouts Andrey Koreshkov (22-3) and Lorenz Larkin (20-7, 1 NC) in a key rankings battle. Koreshkov was formerly a 170-pound champion and Larkin was a No. 1-ranked contender in his first Bellator MMA fight.

Fans in Cali were also treated to a Lightweight battle between local favorite Saad Awad and submission expert Goiti Yamauchi, a Catchweight affair between undefeated Keri Melendez and newcomer Mandy Polk, and a striking exchange between Tony Johnson and “Stitch ‘Em Up” Joe Schilling.

Whatever your style of mixed martial arts (MMA), there was something for everybody in this lineup.
