‘UFC 249 Embedded,’ No. 3: Dominick Cruz goes underwater

The UFC returns on Saturday after a two-month hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the organization’s popular “Embedded” series is giving a behind-the-scenes look at the measures being taken to put on an event under unprecedented circumstances.

UFC 249 takes place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

In the main event, Tony Ferguson (25-3 MMA, 15-1 UFC) meets Justin Gaethje (21-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) for the interim lightweight title. In the co-feature, bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo (15-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) puts his title on the line for the first time against former divisional kingpin Dominick Cruz (22-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC).

The third episode of “Embedded” follows the big-name stars at the top of the card. Here’s the UFC’s description:

Dominick Cruz trains underwater and gets spicy with opponent Henry Cejudo on a media call. Main event star Justin Gaethje flies to Florida. Fighters on location take a series of medical tests. Tony Ferguson’s team poses along the water.
