Mac Attacks ‘Rat’ Khabib, Vows To Butcher Gaethje

Conor McGregor was very interested in the outcome of last Sat. night’s (May 9, 2020) UFC 249 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which went down inside Vystar Veteran Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. Not only because he wanted to see how UFC would provide fighter safety to all combatants for COVID-19, but because the outcome of the main event title fight between Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje could determine his own next move.

After Gaethje dominated “El Cucuy” for 4.5 rounds en route to scoring a technical knockout (TKO) win and the interim lightweight title (see it), “Highlight” secured himself a title unification bout against division champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, later this year.

A few days removed from the event, McGregor took to social media to unload on not only on Ferguson and Gaethje, but on Dustin Poirier and Khabib Nurmagomedov in an expletive-filled Twitter rant.

Conor then put his UFC matchmaker hat on, predicting that Ferguson and Poirier would face off against one another next, all while clowning on “The Diamond’s” mixed martial arts (MMA) career.

From there, “Notorious” decided to attack Gaethje for wanting to go straight to a title shot he earned against Khabib and avoid the real threat that is the former UFC champ-champ. Furthermore, McGregor took the time to address “Highlight’s” comments made over eight months ago slamming Conor’s parental and marital skills.

Finally, he then turned his attention to Nurmagomedov, blasting him for his “no comment” tweet in regards to the outcome of the interim title fight between Ferguson and Gaethje.

Conveniently enough, “Notorious” didn’t mention Khabib’s follow up assessment of Gaethje’s performance in which “The Eagle” not only commended “Highlight” for his win, but also recognized the tough challenge that lays ahead of him. He also forgot to mention Khabib praising Ferguson while somewhat trying to bury the hatchet.

Conor’s final tweet stated that once he demolished the 155-pound weight class, he’d go up to welterweight to take care of business there, too, which means potential fights against Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz will have to be put on the back-burner for a while.

Still, McGregor’s next move is unclear at the moment, as he could very well continue to sit until Khabib and Gaethje take care of their business. And since “Notorious” already secured himself a win earlier this year at UFC 246, it’s highly-likely Dana White and Co. will give McGregor the next title shot.
