Bellator 218 “Sanchez vs. Karakhanyan” took place March 22, 2019 at WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma. The main event saw “El Matador” Emmanuel Sanchez (17-4) and Georgi Karakhanyan (28-8-1, 1 NC) face off for a second time. Sanchez escaped with a majority decision the first time, and Karakhanyan was eager to avenge that loss.

Much like their first meeting though the bout was another closely contested fight that ultimately went to the judges. Not everyone on the main card was so fortunate though. Former UFC fighter Gerald Harris was caught in a guillotine choke 37 seconds into the second round, and coincidentally enough William Lavine was also submitted in R2 by Norbert Novenyi, in his case falling victim to the arm triangle choke.
