Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Two of the top wrestlers in the women’s Bantamweight division are likely to face off, as MMA Junkie reports that Sara McMann and Aspen Ladd will fight at a UFC event on Sat. June 27, 2020 at a to-be-determined location. At the moment, Las Vegas is considered a possibility.

Ladd herself took to Twitter today to confirm that she has a fight, though she did not name her foe.

An Olympic silver medalist in freestyle wrestling, McMann challenged Ronda Rousey for the Bantamweight title back in 2014. More recently, she successfully returned from an extended layoff due to pregnancy by dominating Lina Lansberg. At 39 years of age, McMann is still ranked inside the top 10 and aiming for a title run.

Meanwhile, Ladd is one of the division’s best prospects, sporting a 9-1 record and already ascending into the top five at the age of 25. She rebounded from her first career loss last time out, storming out of her corner as the third round began to crack Yana Kunitskaya with a huge left hook and earn the knockout win.

Shoutout Alistair Overeem for this insane accomplishment! I would have guessed Andrei Arlovski was on that list as well, but he only fought once in 1999, losing his debut.

Francis Ngannou and Mike Tyson is an ultra scary combination.

I do my best not to post trash talk that is clearly Ali Abdelaziz speaking through his fighters (or at least I try ti acknowledge it when it’s obvious).

When an opponent approaches with some wild-and-weird-jumping-spinning nonsense, backing straight up with hands low is not the best approach.
