Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will once again try to crown a flyweight champion to fill the vacancy left by former 125-pound kingpin Henry Cejudo, who recently moved up to bantamweight and abandoned that title as well.

The promotion tried (and failed) to get it done in the UFC Norfolk main event earlier this year in “Old Dominion” when Deiveson Figueiredo missed weight — badly — for his Joseph Benavidez headliner and was ruled ineligible to claim the flyweight strap.

“Daico” won the fight by second-round technical knockout.

With that in mind, it should come as no surprise to learn UFC has booked a Benavidez-Figueiredo rematch for one of its upcoming combat sports events on July 18, according to MMA Junkie, though a city and venue are still pending.

As of this writing there is no clearcut No. 1 contender, which is probably why the rematch is happening with little pushback from the rest of the division. Brandon Moreno, Jussier Formiga, and Alexandre Pantoja currently round out the rest of the Top 5.
