‘BMF’ champion Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz angle for rematch

Just when it looked like Jorge Masvidal was going to compete for his first UFC title shot, he may be headed another direction.

After Masvidal (35-13 MMA, 11-4 UFC) notched three straight stoppage wins last year, all signs were pointing to a summer showdown with UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

UFC president Dana White teased other options for Masvidal earlier in the month, “BMF” title holder Masvidal recently hinted that he may run things back with Nate Diaz, instead.

Masvidal stopped Diaz last November at UFC 244, when after being up on the scorecards, the doctor decided to stop the fight at the end of Round 3 due to a nasty gash on Diaz’s right eye.

Lets run it back #theresurrection #andstill”

Diaz (20-12 MMA, 15-10 UFC), who’s been game to run things back with Masvidal ever since the doctor controversially stopped the fight, responded to Masvidal’s callout, signaling that he’s ready for the rematch.

“Pull-up then.”

And Masvidal was quick to remind Diaz of how things went the first time around.

Hope you upgraded your abs routine #supernecessary.”

If Masvidal ends up opting for the Diaz rematch, Usman’s manager recently claimed that they’re willing to move on and award the title shot to former UFC dual-champ Conor McGregor instead.
