VanZant Tried To Drown Husband On Instagram (Seriously)

“Truthfully, he was just trying to get me to say, ‘Yes, baby, I’m so blown away by how strong you are,’” VanZant said.

The coronavirus quarantine and the homebound boredom that followed it has made some people resort to bizarre measures in order to keep themselves entertained. Take UFC strawweight Paige VanZant, for example, who continues to dazzle her social media followers with nude pics starring husband and Bellator MMA fighter Austin Vanderford.

Their latest social media experiment involved drowning … for reasons not quite understood. I guess Vanderford wanted to prove he was, in fact, stronger than his wife and I suppose there was no reason to walk all the way to the garage to use the weight bench when a bathtub full of water was just a few feet away.

“I do go underwater a lot to wash my hair, get the soap off, and it’s always in the back of my mind,” Vanderford said. “I think, ‘Man, what if Paige was really pissed off at me today, [and] like, tried to hold me underwater?’ So I did really want to know if it was possible.”

VanZant (8-4) will compete in the final fight of her UFC contract when she collides with Amanda Ribas at the upcoming UFC pay-per-view (PPV) event on July 11, expected to take place on the much-ballyhooed “Fight Island.”

As for Vanderford, he last competed at Bellator 234, capturing a unanimous decision win over Grachik Bozinyan. The welterweight “Gentleman” remains undefeated at 9-0 and recently upset 10th Planet “Boogeyman” Richie Martinez on the grappling circuit.
