Nevada Athletic Commission approves next three UFC events in Las Vegas

The UFC will continue to host events in Las Vegas for at least three more weeks.

After back-to-back Saturday night cards at the UFC Apex, the Nevada Athletic Commission unanimously granted approval Monday on applications by the UFC to hold three more events under its jurisdiction. The events will take place this Saturday, June 20, and June 27 – barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Saturday’s UFC Fight Night event will be headlined by a women’s flyweight bout between Jessica Eye and Cynthia Calvillo. June 20 is headlined by Curtis Blaydes vs. Alexander Volkov in a heavyweight clash, while June 27 features a lightweight main event of Dustin Poirier vs. Dan Hooker.

At the conclusion of June, the UFC will have hosted five events in five weeks under the NAC’s watch. The events come after the reinstatement of combat sports in Nevada, which was suspended for more than two months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The UFC’s upcoming schedule is unclear beyond June 27. Although various dates have surfaced for UFC fights in July and August, the promotion has not made formal announcements. This is likely due to the construction of Dana White’s latest creation: “Fight Island.”

White has hinted “Fight Island” will likely encompass the month of July, with a July 11 start date. While White has remained mum on revealing the location, various reports have stated “Fight Island” is in Abu Dhabi.

At the UFC 250 post-fight news conference Saturday, White refused to confirm or deny the reports but said information, including images, will be released this week.
