Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 10 card has lost a bout the day before the event.
Darrick Minner (24-11 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on Friday posted on Instagram and Twitter that he’s out of his featherweight fight against Jordan Griffin (18-7 MMA, 1-2 UFC). The bout was set to be the second on the preliminary card at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card airs on ESPN and streams on ESPN+.
Minner made the announcement while the UFC on ESPN 10 official weigh-ins still were going on in Las Vegas. He has not weighed in, but Griffin was the second fighter on the scale and hit the mark at 146 pounds.
Minner said in his post that his weight cut was “going super smooth” until he spent many hours vomiting.
“Sad to say but tomorrow I won’t be fighting,” Minner posted. “Long story short, the weight cut was going super smooth, everything on point. Came back to nap before I hit the last 5 lbs. Woke up after a two hour nap, started throwing up and didn’t stop for 6-7 hours. Still throwing up this morning but it has slowed down. The UFC performance institute nutrition and staff tried everything to get my stomach under control before they had to make the call to start rehydrating. Shout out to them, they are super knowledgeable and professional. I want to apologize to my opponent Jordan Griffin and his camp, stepped up to give us a fight. We will get this set up at a later date. Thanks to the UFC for giving me another opportunity, we will get back to work and be ready for the next one. Sorry my body couldn’t make this happen.”

Minner was looking to get back in the win column after a second-round submission loss to Grant Dawson in his promotional debut in February at UFC on ESPN+ 27. Griffin rebounded from a two-fight skid in February with a submission of T.J. Brown.
