Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal is currently at war with promotion president Dana White, who tried to “strong arm” the longtime veteran into taking a 170-pound title fight against Kamaru Usman at UFC 251.

That’s probably why Masvidal, who turns 36 in November, was so upset at the UFC commentators for suggesting “Gamebred” should just get into the Octagon and fight, then worry about negotiating for higher pay when it’s time to work out a new contract.

“For the white knights that have commentating jobs with the UFC that say ‘just fight’ you guys should be embarrassed to call yourselves current/former fighters,” Masvidal wrote on Twitter. “Not one of you been doing it as long as me and like me. There’s a reason you are ‘commentating.’”

Retired UFC lightweight slugger Paul Felder was in the broadcast booth for UFC on ESPN 10 last weekend in Las Vegas and while he didn’t address Masvidal directly, “The Irish Dragon” certainly proved his mettle with a series of fight-related injuries on Instagram.

Which included a piece of his collapsed lung.

“I get asked a lot when I’m returning or if I’m officially retired,” Felder wrote on Instagram. “I miss the Octagon and competing but these pictures are how I come home to a 5 year-old princess. It’s a hard job. This is why I love commentating. I get to talk about the toughest athletes on the planet.”

Speaking of commentators, Daniel Cormier certainly isn’t helping matters by proudly referring to himself as the “corporate champion,” which may just be another way to needle the disgruntled Jon Jones, but that’s a discussion for another post.

Felder suffered a collapsed lung but continued fighting anyway during his UFC Phoenix win over James Vick. The 35 year-old “Irish Dragon” went on to retire from combat sports in the wake of his brutal, five-round war against Dan Hooker last February in New Zealand.
