Bruno Arruda da Silva gets two-year USADA suspension after testing positive for boldenone

Bruno Arruda da Silva’s UFC debut will have to wait.

Arruda da Silva (18-6 MMA, 0-0 UFC) was given a two-year suspension by the U.S. Anti-Doping Ageneny on Monday after testing positive for boldenone in an out-of-competition test collected on May 27, 2019.

Arruda da Silva was supposed to make his UFC debut on June 2019 in a middleweight bout against Deron Winn at UFC on ESPN+ 12. However, Arruda da Silva was pulled from the fight at the time for undisclosed reasons.

Arruda da Silva was unable to reduce the suspension after taking his case to an independent arbitrator on May 27. The Brazilian was unable to provide a plausible explanation for the failed drug test and did not declare a prior use of Boldenone on his on-boarding declaration upon joining the UFC.

The 30-year-old Arruda da Silva’s two-year period of ineligibility began on June 14, 2019, and thus he’ll be eligible for reinstatement on June 14, 2021.

Boldenone is a non-specified substance in the class of anabolic agents and is prohibited at all times under the UFC anti-doping policy UFC prohibited list.
