If you had Chad Mendes vs. Michael Bisping on your Fighter Beefs BINGO card, get your dauber out, ’cause that ish just came in.
We’re guessing you probably didn’t have that one, though, since it’s pretty far-fetched and random. But Mendes on Wednesday took exception to recent Bisping comments about his suspension from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency in 2016.
And to say he dropped the mike when he was done is an understatement.
On his “Believe You Me” podcast, Bisping recently said Mendes commented on a Tim Kennedy Instagram post in May in which Kennedy ripped former opponent Bisping. And those Mendes comments about him, Bisping said on his podcast, are what caused him to send a direct message to Mendes.
“You little steroid cheating f–k,” Bisping said his message started. “Don’t be sour because your career amounted to nothing. ‘Ignorant and disrespectful’? What, like disrespecting the sport by taking steroids by dishonoring yourself and your opponent in a sport that someone could die? Shame on you, you little dips–t.”
Mendes’ two-year USADA suspension was for a growth hormone. He returned in 2018 with a stoppage win over Myles Jury, then a loss to Alexander Volkanovski, who went on to become featherweight champion. Mendes announced his retirement after that loss.
So Wednesday, Mendes posted his rebuttal on Instagram and Twitter – along with a photo of Dan Henderson dropping down for his now-famous H-Bomb right hand to finish Bisping at UFC 100 in 2009.
“Hey @mikebisping let’s get some s–t straight here,” Mendes wrote. “When I LET usada suspend me it was for a banned peptide under their rules. NOT a steroid. Just to put some s–t into perspective for morons like you, too much caffeine in ur system is a violation under usada rules. That entire system is the biggest crock of s–t ever implemented into the @ufc. Unlike all these other guys getting “popped” and making up the worst excuses ever to wheel and deal their suspension down, I owned that s–t like a man. Now keep my name outta ur mouth u old, wooden eye having prick before I snatch ur soul like my boy @danhendo did…. #gtfoh #alwaysrunningyourmouth”
Is it a beef that will escalate into anything between Mendes, a former featherweight title challenger, and Bisping, a retired former middleweight champion? Of course not.
But it doesn’t mean it isn’t fun to watch.
