COVID-19 Strikes Again

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has been forced to rework its UFC on ESPN 12 fight card, yet again, after a cornerman for welterweight newcomer Ramiz Brahimaj tested positive for coronavirus, removing Brahimaj from the June 27 lineup in Las Vegas.

Sound familiar?

“Replacing Brahimaj will be UFC newcomer Jason Witt, pending medical clearance including a COVID-19 test,” officials said in a recent statement. “As a result, the commission has agreed to weigh in Witt separately and he will not participate in [today’s] official weigh-ins and faceoffs.”

Witt (15-5), who racked up a 7-1 record on the regional circuit over the last three years, will collide with former Pancrase star Takashi Sato (15-3). Their 170-pound showdown is expected to air on the UFC on ESPN 12 preliminary card.
