Tanner Boser surprised at his KO win – but is Maurice Greene next?

LAS VEGAS – Tanner Boser beat Philipe Lins with a first-round knockout Saturday on the preliminary card at UFC on ESPN 12 in Las Vegas.

Take a look inside the fight with Boser, who got back in the win column after a loss to Ciryl Gane this past December.

Result: Tanner Boser def. Philipe Lins via knockout (punches) – Round 1, 2:41
Updated records: Boser (18-6-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC), Lins (14-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC)
Key stat: Boser now has half of his 18 career wins by knockout or TKO.

Boser on the fight’s key moment

“I’m not one of the big power punching heavyweights. I’m fast and precise. The game plan worked. The leg kicks made him want to charge in and I made him pay for it.”

Boser on being surprised by Lins’ game plan

“I didn’t think it was going to be a brawl. I thought it was going to be a technical, but arduous night. I thought I’d win by decision because Philipe is a hard guy to put away. I thought we would put together a very technical striking battle.”

Boser on what he wants next

“(Maurice Greene) said he wants to fight on ‘Fight Island,’ and I’m not hurt. If he wins (against Gian Villante), yes, I want to fight him on ‘Fight Island.’ If he loses, then maybe we’ll talk about a different opponent because that wouldn’t really make sense.”
