Former Strikeforce featherweight attraction Gina Carano, widely regarded as “the face of women’s MMA” long before Ronda Rousey made her mark in UFC, has a bone to pick with the censors at Instagram after her topless pic got yanked for violating the social network’s terms of service.

“So that’s what it’s like to be censored for no reason,” Carano wrote on Twitter. “Pic was taken down by Instagram. There’s much more important news today but that was some classic bullshit. The whole post was about freedom of expression. Violating zero rules. Ironic. Feels like I graduated. Thanks Karen.”

The photo in question, which you can still see by clicking here, was well received by a majority of combat sports fans; however, not everyone was in favor of Carano’s decision to bare (mostly) all, including former UFC and PRIDE fighter Renzo Gracie.

“Put some clothes on, you don’t need it,” Gracie commented. “You are among the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen. That makes you unique. There’s no need for sex pics, you are the most beautiful woman that walks around, simple as that.”

Carano, 38, walked away from cage fighting in the wake of her technical knockout loss to Cris Cyborg back in summer 2009 and despite some interest from UFC over the years (and some profanity), “Conviction” appears to be content with her career in Hollywood.
