Dern Draws ‘Quiet Storm’ For UFC 253

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has assembled an interesting strawweight showdown for the upcoming UFC 253 pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Sat., Sept. 19, 2020 inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mackenzie Dern vs. Randa Markos.

Dern (8-1) is looking to win her second straight after submitting Hanna Cifers at UFC on ESPN 9 back in May. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu standout suffered the first defeat of her professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career when Amanda Ribas captured a decision at UFC Tampa last October.

Markos (10-1) also dropped a recent decision to Ribas and in 14 fights with UFC, has yet to win back-to-back fights inside the Octagon. “Quiet Storm” made her promotion debut after spending several weeks on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 20 back in summer 2014.

UFC 253 is expected to be headlined by the lightweight title unification bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje; however, it is not yet known if “The Eagle” will delay his return after losing his father to coronavirus.
