Bellator 242 weigh-in results: Bantamweight headliner set, one fighter misses weight

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – MMA Junkie was on scene and reporting live from Thursday’s early Bellator 242 fighter weigh-ins, where all fighters – with one exception – made weight.

Bantamweight headliners Ricky Bandejas and Sergio Pettis were two of the first fighters to weigh-in, and both men came in under the divisional limit with weight to spare.

One main card fighter who did not make weight, however, was undefeated featherweight Jay Jay Wilson. After initially missing weight at 149 pounds, Wilson (5-0 MMA, 4-0 BMMA) weighed-in at 148.5 pounds without his shorts.

Mohegan Sun commission head Mike Mazzulli gave Wilson the opportunity to cut weight for two hours and return to give it another try. Upon his return, Wilson weighed 147.9 pounds – 1.9 pounds over the limit.

UPDATE: MMA Junkie was subsequently informed that 20 percent of Wilson’s purse will go to Claxton and the fight will go ahead, as scheduled.

Bellator 242 takes place Friday at Mohegan Sun Arena. The main card simulcasts on Paramount Network and DAZN after prelims on DAZN and MMA Junkie.
