You’re Going To Have To Pay How Much To See Fake Punches?

Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. are booked to throw down in an exhibition bout on Sat., Sept. 12, 2020 inside Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif. And while it will just be two legends “moving around the ring” for the fans according California State Athletic Commission Executive Director Andy Foster, it’s still going to cost you like the real deal to watch it.

According to The Athletic, fans will have to pony up $49.99 to watch the two living legends mix it up in the ring. In comparison, the rematch between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder — which went down this past February — cost $79.99, while Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor was priced at $99.00 for high definition viewing.

While Tyson (54) and Jones (51) are two of the best to ever compete in the “sweet science,” it’s a pretty sell trying to get people to fork over a cool $50 bill to watch them pull punches. And if promoters were banking on the fact that there wasn’t too many sporting options to compete with due to COVID-19, baseball, soccer and basketball are back in full swing.

Tyson was last seen losing to Kevin McBride in 2005, while Jones Jr. hasn’t seen the inside of a ring since he defeated Scott Sigmon in 2018. And while Tyson has looked great in various videos he’s put out to show his speed, power and physical transformation, it seems we won’t be able to see if he’s really still got it.

Which begs the question: Is the asking price a bit too high for your taste?
