UFC adds Kai Kara-France vs. Brandon Royval to Sept. 26 event

A flyweight matchup is the latest addition to the UFC’s Sept. 26 event.

The promotion has added Kai Kara-France vs. Brandon Royval to the event’s lineup. No location or name designation has been announced for the event at this time.

Royval (11-4 MMA, 1-0 UFC) recently confirmed the targeted booking on social media after an initial report by MMA Fighting.

After a 3-0 start to his UFC tenure, Kara-France (21-8-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) saw his eight-fight winning streak snapped at the hands of Brandon Moreno last December at UFC 245. In his next outing, Kara-France rebounded with a unanimous decision win over Tyson Nam at UFC on ESPN+ 26 in his home country of New Zealand.

Royval scored big in his UFC debut, submitting former UFC flyweight title challenger Tim Elliott in the second round at UFC on ESPN 9, which earned him the “Fight of the Night” bonus. He will look to continue his momentum when he takes on top 10-ranked flyweight, Kara-France.

With the addition, the current Sept. 26 lineup includes:

  • Claudia Gadelha vs. Yan Xiaonan
  • Sarah Alpar vs. Jessica-Rose Clark
  • Randy Costa vs. Journey Newson
  • Kai Kara-France vs. Brandon Royval
