Modestas Bukauskas wants two more UFC fights before the end of 2020

After a successful UFC debut, Modestas Bukauskas is looking to remain active.

Bukauskas (11-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) defeated Andreas Michailidis by first-round TKO at UFC on ESPN 13 in Abu Dhabi for his seventh straight stoppage win.

The former Cage Warriors light heavyweight champion, who writes his goals down on a whiteboard, is off to a good start in terms of fulfilling his objectives. He wants to keep the ball rolling by competing another two times before the end of the year.

“I actually had two things written out on that board that have already come true, which is to get the 50-grand bonus and to give it to my mum and dad – so that is one thing that really meant a lot to me,” Bukauskas told MMA Junkie. “Then I said to win the $50,000 bonus and to win the fight by knockout – and those things all happened.

“But on the other two things that I wrote on there, one of which was to have three fights this year – so I’m talking to get another two fights by the end of this year. Obviously depending on injuries and stuff like that and how quick my management can get me fights, that would be one big thing for me is to have three fights this year. And then the second thing was to have three big wins.”

Bukauskas joined a new crop of light heavyweights on the UFC roster and is hoping that his activity will help propel him to the top of the rankings.

“So three big wins and three fights this year, that puts me in a great position to try and keep facing, slowly, higher and higher opposition and to work my way up the ladder,” Bukauskas said. “It’s everyone’s goal to be UFC champion, but by next year, I want to be classified as sort of the top 15 guys in the world.”
