No word yet on the future of Ray Borg, who was also scratched from last weekend’s event.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) dropped Eric Spicely after “Zebrinha” failed to weigh in for his UFC Vegas 5 bout against Markus Perez, which was expected to take place last weekend at the UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“Alright UFC this is goodbye again for now,” Spicely wrote on Twitter. “Let’s see if we can do a three-peat. Sorry to all my fans. That’s just the way she goes. I haven’t made money in over a year, needless to say I’ll be ready to fight short notice at 185 or 205. Fuck it.”

Spicely, who made his first UFC run from 2016-18, has not competed since his unanimous decision loss to Deron Winn at UFC Fight Night 154 back in June 2019. A fight that may have contributed to his scale struggles while preparing for Perez.

“For the sake of transparency this was my first weight cut since starting antidepressants due to the head trauma I sustained in the Deron Winn fight,” Spicely tweeted. “Needless to say it went horribly wrong and my fight is off. I will figure this problem out and hopefully be able to compete again.”

The 33 year-old Spicely (12-5) was quickly replaced by Octagon newcomer Charles Ontiveros; however, the commission nixed that middleweight bout during the disastrous UFC Vegas 5 weigh ins and Perez was left without an opponent.

Spicely previously competed for CES MMA in his native Rhode Island.
