Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion Luke Rockhold is expected to make his return to mixed martial arts (MMA) by the end of the year and appears to be “interested” in a 185-pound rematch against longtime rival Chris Weidman.

That’s according to ESPN.

Rockhold, who turns 36 in October, has struggled to keep himself afloat over the last few years, dropping three of his last four — all by way of knockout — against the top of the food chain. That includes his light heavyweight debut against Jan Blachowicz back in July 2019, which ended in complete disaster.

Of his six victories inside the Octagon, only Weidman remains an active UFC fighter. The “All American” recently got back into the win column with a “sloppy” unanimous decision nod over Omari Akhmedov at UFC Vegas 6 in Las Vegas.

Both Rockhold and Weidman have expressed interest in running it back over the years, and this December will mark five years since Rockhold (16-5) stopped Weidman (15-5) to capture the 185-pound strap at UFC 194 in “Sin City.”

Once more, with feeling?
