Jones: Win Six Title Fights, Bank $100,000

A minor expense for the eight-million dollar man.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who vacated his title earlier this week after negotiations stalled, is offering up a $100,000 prize to the first fighter able to win six straight championship bouts at 205 pounds.

Not to cast judgement on Jones’ authenticity but uh … better get that in writing.

“First light heavyweight to win six championships in a row I’ll pay $100,000 to whatever charity of their liking,” Jones wrote on Twitter. “I’ll be waiting.”

Jones (26-1, 1 NC) holds the division record at eight straight title defenses and probably would have racked up a few more, but his personal problems outside the cage (like this disaster) forced the promotion to take away his championship privileges.

I guess that’s better than being declared indigent.

“Was going to challenge a light heavyweight to beat my world championship record but we all know that’s probably not happening in this lifetime,” Jones continued.

Jones, 33, would probably be 28-0 with 22 wins under the UFC banner but his death elbows at The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale got him disqualified by referee Steve Mazzagatti. Then came his “No Contest” against Daniel Cormier after the picogram fiasco at UFC 214.

“Seriously, I challenge you guys to go out there and be great too,” Jones said. “It’s going to be awesome watching with that cheeseburger in my hand. I really do believe putting on a little extra weight is going to bring out my true genetic/athletic potential.”

There are probably better ways to bulk up for a heavyweight debut but that is up to Jones and his team to decide. In the interim, Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz will compete for the 205-pound strap at UFC 253 in September.
