Pedro Munhoz isn’t happy about the split decision in Frankie Edgar’s favor at UFC Vegas 7, saying he deserves ‘fair scores.’

There’s no denying that Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 15 main event between Frankie Edgar and Pedro Munhoz was tight, but did Frankie really do enough to earn the victory two out of three judges handed him? Not according to Pedro, who unsurprisingly thinks he won that fight and brought the MMA media’s scores with him to the post-fight press conference as proof.

“Yeah, without a doubt,” he said when asked if he’d won. “I was just right now with the doctor getting stitches and some of my coaches was showing me 17 of the media score. 20 media score, 17 gave me the fight. 17. So only 3 gave to him. Also I saw the punches score. I had the 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounds. Y’know, it is what it is.”

Edgar wasn’t available for interview as he was taken to the hospital to check on his legs. Munhoz definitely ripped up his legs, but feels like the rest of his game was ignored.

“Not even the leg kicks, I was hurting him with the jabs,” Munhoz declared. “I chased him five rounds. He got a couple takedowns but he couldn’t do anything with the takedowns, I got back up right away. And I was looking for the finish.”

“I really feel and saw a few times he was hurt. And he’s pretty tough, so he hid that really well. I felt that throwing some crosses, some hooks, a couple of teep kicks to his body, the leg kicks he was hiding really good. Sometimes I was just faking that I’m gonna throw the kick and he was falling so probably he was hurt. The last two fights, both my opponents just left me with scratches. They couldn’t walk out of the cage.”

Munhoz implied Edgar earned the nod on the judge’s scorecards due to name recognition.

“I just want fair things, you know what I mean?” he said. “I just don’t wanna lose to people that have a better reputation than I do or people that is a former champ, things like that. That’s my point. I want it just fair. Fair scores.”

And as far as a rematch goes?

“I never chose any opponent, I’m down to fight anyone any time,” Munhoz said. “That would be good to get the rematch. Right now just go back home and be mad for a couple days. I’m very grateful for what I do and the people around me.”
