UFC Vet Avoids Jail Time In Child Exploitation Case

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight bruiser Abel Trujillo was sentenced to two years probation on Monday in Douglas County, Colo., following his arrest on child sexual exploitation charges back in early 2019.

That’s according to 9News.com.

Trujillo, 36, pleaded guilty to promoting obscenity (a misdemeanor) as part of a deal that would see his felony charges tossed. “Killa” previously confessed to distributing nude photos and having “multiple conversations with females under the age of 18.”

The four-time NAIA All-American wrestler for William Penn University was considered one of the bright young prospects of the lightweight division when he made his Octagon debut back in late 2012, but Trujillo (15-8, 1 NC) failed to make an impact in high-profile defeats to both Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“At a couple points in my career I just broke down,” Trujillo once told UFC.com. “I was like, I really love this sport and I know I’m really good at it and I know I can be champion, but I’m screwing myself up. I had nobody to look over my career, I was not doing it right, and it was very frustrating.”

Trujillo has not competed since consecutive losses to James Vick and John Makdessi back in 2017.
