With John Allan out, Ed Herman takes on Mike Rodriguez at UFC on ESPN+ 35

Ed Herman has received yet another switch in opponents.

The longtime UFC competitor now has a second replacement opponent for the UFC on ESPN+ 35 card on Sept. 12 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Herman (25-14 MMA, 12-10 UFC) takes on Mike Rodriguez (11-4 MMA, 2-2 UFC) at light heavyweight. The news was first reported by MMA Fighting and later confirmed by MMA Junkie.

Herman was supposed to take on John Allan, who was stepping in on short notice for Gerald Meerschaert. But Allan was forced to withdraw from the event due to visa issues.

Herman last fought on in November 2019 and beat Khadis Ibragimov with a unanimous decision. Since then Herman has had five bouts fall through in 2020.

Rodriguez is coming off a first-round knockout of Marcin Prachnio on Aug. 22. The 31-year-old will be fighting for the second time in three weeks.

With this latest change, the UFC on ESPN+ 35 lineup includes:

  • Angela Hill vs. Michelle Waterson
  • Andrea Lee vs. Roxanne Modafferi
  • Tyson Nam vs. Matt Schnell
  • Bruno Silva vs. Tagir Ulanbekov
  • Frank Camacho vs. Brok Weaver
