UFC on ESPN+ 34: Twitter reacts to Alistair Overeem’s comeback TKO win against Augusto Sakai

Alistair Overeem keeps adding wins to his storied career.

The former Strikeforce, DREAM and K-1 champion picked up a TKO victory in the main event of Saturday’s UFC on ESPN+ 34 card in Las Vegas. Overeem (47-18 MMA, 12-7 UFC) stopped Agusto Sakai at the 0:26 mark of Round 5.

It was a tough and gritty performance from “The Demolition Man.” He had to rally back a few tough rounds at the beginning of the fight. It seemed in Rounds 1 and 2 Sakai, had the better of the exchanges. The beginning of Round 3 was similar, but Overeem then began relying on his wrestling and ground-and-pound to take back control of the fight. The 40-year-old veteran was persistent on taking the fight to the ground, which eventually won him the fight.
