One of the most exciting fight cards of the year will unfold later this evening (Sat., Sept. 19, 2020) at UFC Vegas 11 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, as welterweight contender Colby Covington takes on former UFC champion Tyron Woodley in the main event.

In preparation for UFC’s final stop in Vegas before traveling back to “Fight Island” for a five-event stay, the promotion has released the above video showing the fastest turnarounds between fights in UFC history. This may have something to do with the fact that veteran fighter Donald Cerrone and rising prospect Khamzat Chimaev are both competing on the UFC Vegas 11 card.

Cerrone, who will meet welterweight finisher Niko Price in the co-main event, will tie Jim Miller on Saturday night for the most fights in UFC history (36). Since his Octagon debut back in 2011 “Cowboy” has fought at least three times each year (except for 2012 when he competed just twice). From 2013-2016, Cerrone fought four times per year, even making a 15-day turnaround between wins over Myles Jury at UFC 182 and Benson Henderson at UFC Fight Night 59.

Chimaev, who will meet middleweight submission specialist Gerald Meerschaert in main card action, broke a UFC record this past July when he fought twice in the span of just 10 days. The undefeated prospect essentially stole the show on UFC’s “Fight Island” and has subsequently become one of the hottest names in MMA right now. If Chimaev is able to get past “GM3” this weekend he’ll have a “Fight Island”matchup with legend Demian Maia waiting for him.

Joining Cerrone and Chimaev on the list of the fastest turnarounds between UFC bouts are the following fighters:

  • Chris Leben (11 days)
  • Chas Skelly (13 days)
  • Dustin Pague (14 days)
