Volkan Oezdemir has been felled by injury and forced to withdraw from his Nikita Krylov co-main event at UFC Fight Island 6, previously scheduled for Sat., Oct. 17, 2020, inside Flash Forum on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.

“I’m devastated, I won’t be able to fight due to a knee injury,” Oezdemir wrote on Instagram. “I apologize to Dana White, UFC, Mick Maynard, my opponent Nikita Krylov and all the fans. I’ll rest and work on the fastest recovery possible to be back in that Octagon ASAP.”

Oezdemir (17-5) jumped out to a perfect 3-0 start in the 205-pound division, knocking out the likes of Misha Cirkunov and Jimi Manuwa along the way. Unfortunately, “No Time” was unable to maintain his winning ways and has since put together a dreadful 2-4 record, which includes last July’s knockout loss to Jiri Prochazka.

No word yet on what the promotion plans to do with Krylov but the clock is ticking.

UFC Fight Island 6 is expected to be headlined by the featherweight grudge match pitting Brian Ortega against “Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung. To see the rest of the fight card and ESPN+ line up click here.
